June 25, 2008; South Florida Sun-Sentinel; Many thanks for supporting, saving Holocaust Center at FAU; by Rosanna M. Gatens.
Thanks to the generosity of members of our community, the Florida Atlantic University Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education will continue to operate after June 30. I want to add my expression of gratitude to the major donors who have been recognized in our local newspapers.
Equally important, I want to thank a number of people who committed an incredible amount of time and energy to mobilize the support that is allowing the center's work to go on. These individuals and groups include teachers, students, Holocaust survivors, churches, temples, synagogues, civic organizations, colleagues and friends. I want to recognize especially Connie Packman, B.J. Saul, Sharona Kay, Julie Wachtel, Nancy Brown, Dilys Schoorman, Phyllis Atler, Fran Steinmark, Joan Steigman, Carl House, Anita Hoffer, Linda Medvin, Steven Lippey, Gerry Golden, Next Generations, the Kindertransport Association and the Save Darfur Coalition of South Palm Beach. It is not an exaggeration to say that without their steadfast commitment to Holocaust and human rights education, our community would have lost the Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education.
