Next Local Coalition Projects
Following
our extremely successful January 26th rally, coalition representatives met on
February 7 to plan next steps.
In addition to continued individual
congregational and organizations' activities, wee will be working together on
three projects:
- Advocacy with our U.S.
Congressional Reps and Senators - including activating other Florida groups in
our own denominations/organizations
- A large march/event on April 30
to coincide with rally on the Mall in Washington, D.C.
- An event focusing on the
humanitarian situation in Darfur, featuring heads of national relief
organizations
If you would like to be involved in one of these
projects, or would like more information, write to us at SaveDarfurSPB@gmail.com.
Our next coalition meeting will be at 11:30
AM February 21 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Boca Raton, 2601 St.
Andrews.

Million Voices
Campaign
On January 26, we collected hundreds of postcards to
President Bush as part of the Million Voices Campaign. It is VERY EASY to
participate:
The Save Darfur Coalition (of which we are a regional affiliate), in
cooperation with over 150 faith-based, advocacy, and humanitarian aid
organizations, has launched the Million Voices for Darfur campaign, an
unprecedented effort to raise awareness of the genocide taking place in Darfur
and promote the actions necessary to end it. The goal is to generate one
million hand-written and electronic postcards from Americans demanding a
stronger and more effective U.S. response. Specifically, the campaign calls on
the United States government to support a stronger multinational force to
protect the civilians of Darfur.
National Speaker Available in Florida in February-act

force in Darfur, and he has spoken publicly on Darfur for quite some time now. The Save Darfur Coalition
is organizing his national speaking tour, has him in Florida at the end of
this month. I would love to touch base with you asap about him being in your
area at the very end of the month. Please asap email Jeff Kovick,

Local Media Coverage

Channel 12 TV, a local section front page with photo in the Palm Beach post,
full page 3 story with multiple photos in the Boca Raton News, front page with

If the

Fowler, an expert on such matters, answers that question tonight at Lynn
University during his speech Combating Contemporary Genocide. Fowler is
