FAU and local high schools

to home page Caroline and Brenda Souto (sisters and FAU students) are active in bringing attention to Darfur.

Caroline is the new president of Amnesty International at Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter and they will be promoting the event that will take place on the 27th of February when Bob Steidle, the U.S Marine who made a documentary on Darfur, will speak at FAU. The event is going to be at the FAU auditorium in Jupiter at 7:30 pm. Several radio stations were contacted and so far there is a positive response from one who that will promote the event and they are also interested in interviewing Steidle during rush hour on the 27th. A press release is being sent out to notify the media. Brenda has started an International Community on the internet (www.orkut.com) for Darfur in Portuguese and English. Caroline has started an internet community on another popular website for college students (www.facebook.com). It is a good way to communicate with everyone about events and incoming information!

They plan to show our DVD (the one created for our Jan. 26 rally) to Coral Springs High School and other communities. So far one more high school in Ft. Lauderdale has responded (Westminster Academy). Westminster Academy is interested in scheduling an event to show the DVD and distribute cards for the million voices campaign during one of their weekly chapels. The February 27 event and other upcoming events will be promoted in the high schools and they'll keep these communities informed about new information on Darfur.
